He is a research fellow at the department of Structural Engineering and Building Materials at Ghent University (UGent) in Belgium working on fire modelling with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).

He received his diploma in mechanical engineering & aeronautics from the university of Patras in Greece in 2008. Subsequently, he moved to Belgium where he received his PhD from UGent in 2013 with a thesis entitled ‘A Novel Methodology to Include Differential Diffusion in Numerical Simulations of Reactive Flows’. Within his thesis he focused on the importance of considering differential diffusion effects in numerical simulations of turbulent non-premixed combustion. Since then, he has been working as a researcher at UGent focusing on numerical modelling (Large Eddy Simulations - LES) of fire applications with the CFD codes OpenFOAM and the Fire Dynamics Simulator (FDS). His research interests mainly focus on numerical modeling of fire-related physical phenomena in the gas and solid phase involving buoyancy-generated turbulence, turbulent combustion, radiative and convective heat transfer, compartment fires, flame extinction, flame spread and pyrolysis.

He is a lecturer for the International Master of Science in Fire Safety Engineering program (IMFSE - https://imfse.be/) and a reviewer for fire-related peer reviewed journals including the Fire Safety Journal. He is also a member of the International Association for Fire Safety Science (IAFSS), Belgian Section of the Combustion Institute (BSCI) and the Combustion Institute (CI).
